Exclusive Offers
Sometimes the fourth
night is on us.
On selected journeys, at selected lodges, at certain times of year, we can add a night you do not pay for. It is not always available — but between January and May, it often is.
What This Is
An extra night, given rather than sold.
Lodges and camps run to seasons. There are weeks of the year when every tent is spoken for months ahead, and weeks when they are not — and in the quieter stretches, a good lodge would rather have you in the room for four nights paying for three than have the room stand empty.
That is where free nights come from. They are offers made by individual properties, on particular dates, and passed on to you in full. When one is available on the journey you are looking at, we will build it in and show you exactly what it saves.
We want to be straightforward about this: it is not always the case. Free nights are not a standing feature of every safari, and we would rather set the expectation honestly than have you arrive at a quote expecting one. What we can promise is that when an offer exists on your dates, you will hear about it.
Typical Shape
4→3
Stay four nights, pay for three. Some properties run seven for six.
Most Common
Jan–May
The quieter half of the year, and when lodges are most willing to add a night.
Availability
Varies
By property, by season and by date. Never assumed — always checked.
When It Happens
Mostly between January and May.
This is an indication of when offers appear most often, not a calendar of guaranteed availability. Individual properties set their own dates and can change them.
Most common Occasional Rare — peak season
Why these months. January to May covers the green season across much of East and Southern Africa. The bush is thick and lush, the light is dramatic, newborn game is everywhere and the birding is at its best. Camps are quieter, so lodges are more generous.
July to October is the peak — the Mara crossings, the dry-season game viewing — and lodges have no empty rooms to give away. Offers in those months are rare, and we will not pretend otherwise.
How It Applies
What to expect when an offer is available.
Selected Lodges
Offers come from individual properties, not from us across the board. Which camps are running one changes through the year.
Selected Journeys
An offer only helps if the property sits naturally in your itinerary. We will not bend a route around a free night if the result is a worse journey.
Selected Dates
Most offers apply to a defined window and a minimum stay. Shifting your dates by a few days sometimes brings one into reach.
Passed On In Full
Where a lodge gives a night, it comes off your cost. We do not retain the value of an offer made to you.
Free night offers are made by individual lodges and camps and are subject to availability, minimum stay requirements, defined date windows and the property’s own terms. They are not available on all journeys, all properties or all dates, and cannot be applied retrospectively to a confirmed booking. Park, conservancy and government fees remain payable on complimentary nights unless the offer states otherwise. Your specialist will confirm precisely what is included before you book.
How To Find One
Ask, and be a little flexible.
01
Tell us it matters
Say at the enquiry stage that you would like us to look. It changes which properties we reach for first.
02
Give us a window
A fixed week narrows the field considerably. A month, or a rough season, gives us far more to work with.
03
We check what is live
We hold the current offers across the camps we work with and check them against your dates and route.
04
You see it in the quote
If an offer applies, it appears in your costing as a line you can see — not as a vague discount.
Questions
Frequently asked.
No, and we would rather say so plainly. Free nights are offered by individual lodges on selected journeys at selected times of year. When one applies to the journey and dates you are considering, we will tell you. When none does, we will tell you that too.
Most often between January and May. That is the quieter half of the year in much of East and Southern Africa, and it is when lodges are most willing to add a night. Offers outside those months exist but are less common.
Typically stay four nights and pay for three, or stay seven and pay for six, at a single property. Some offers apply to a specific room category or require a minimum stay.
Usually it covers the accommodation and the meal plan on the same basis as your other nights. Park and conservancy fees, and anything charged directly by the lodge, are normally still payable. We spell out exactly what is covered before you book.
Sometimes. Whether an offer combines with the Early Bird discount or another promotion depends on the lodge’s own terms. Your specialist will check and tell you which combination leaves you better off.
Yes, and it is worth doing. If a free night matters to you, tell us at the enquiry stage and we will build the itinerary around properties currently offering one, where that still makes sense for the journey.
Because a free night is usually worth more. Lodges will often give a night they would otherwise leave empty but will not cut the nightly rate, so an extra night delivers more value than the equivalent discount would.
Tell us your dates. We’ll tell you what’s going.
Send us the journey you have in mind and roughly when, and we will check every current offer against it before we quote.
