Zanzibar is an enchanting archipelago where centuries of history, vibrant Swahili culture and breathtaking tropical beauty combine to create one of the Indian Ocean's most alluring destinations. Known for its dazzling white-sand beaches and warm turquoise waters, Zanzibar offers far more than a traditional beach holiday — it is a place where culture, heritage and relaxation seamlessly intertwine.
At the heart of the island lies Stone Town, a UNESCO-listed labyrinth of winding alleyways, ornate Arab architecture, bustling markets and historic landmarks that tell the story of centuries of trade between Africa, Arabia, India and Europe. Beyond its historic centre, Zanzibar unfolds into a paradise of palm-fringed beaches, coral reefs and crystal-clear waters ideal for snorkelling, diving and sailing — with traditional dhow cruises gliding across the ocean at sunset and spice farms offering a sensory journey through the aromas that earned the island its title as the 'Spice Island'.
Whether paired with an East African safari or enjoyed as a destination in its own right, Zanzibar provides the perfect balance of adventure, culture, romance and relaxation. At Finders & Keepers Safaris, every journey here is designed so that each sunset feels timeless, each beach feels untouched, and each experience reflects the rich heritage and natural beauty that have captivated travellers for generations.

Mnemba Atoll, off Zanzibar’s northeast coast
Mnemba is a small, palm-fringed islet inside the Mnemba Atoll Conservation Area, a protected marine reserve off Zanzibar’s northeast coast. &Beyond’s lodge occupies the whole of it — just ten thatched beach bandas ringing the shore, a number deliberately capped to protect the reef that surrounds them.
That reef is the reason to come. It is among the healthiest and most biodiverse in the region, and snorkelling, diving and spinner dolphin encounters are all reachable directly from the beach rather than after an hour in a boat. The conservation area’s protected status and the research it supports are part of the stay rather than a footnote to it.
Everything else is deliberately simple: bandas that open onto sand, meals on the beach or in your own room, a bar looking over the water, and a low-impact, genuinely castaway character that Zanzibar’s larger coastal resorts cannot reproduce. A road transfer to the northeast coast and a short boat crossing complete the journey.
