Cancellation Policy
If your plans change, or ours do, here is how we handle it.
Last updated: 17 October 2026
In short: tell us as early as you can. The earlier you do, the more we can usually recover for you. The exact cancellation charges for your journey are written in your quotation and booking confirmation before you pay a deposit.
1. If you need to change your booking
Tell us in writing (email is fine) as soon as you know. We will do what we can to amend dates, rooms, activities or travellers. Changes depend on availability, and some suppliers charge for them; we will tell you the cost before anything is changed. Some bookings, such as trekking permits, cannot be transferred or amended once issued.
2. If you need to cancel
Please cancel in writing to info@finderskeeperssafaris.com. The date we receive your message is the cancellation date.
What can be refunded depends on how far ahead of departure you cancel and on the commitments already made for you. Lodges, camps, flights, charters and permits are often paid for in advance and many are partly or fully non-refundable, and the terms differ by supplier and season. For that reason we state the cancellation charges that apply to your journey in your written quotation and booking confirmation, so you know them before you pay.
Whatever is not owed to us or to suppliers is returned to you. We will show you how the amount was worked out. Refunds go back to the person and method that paid.
3. Payment dates
A 30% deposit confirms your booking and the balance is due 60 days before departure, unless your confirmation states another plan. Please contact us before a payment date if you may be late.
4. If a group departure does not fill
If a group departure has not reached its agreed numbers, we tell you early and you choose: move to the next available date, continue at a revised small-group rate, or take a full refund of everything you have paid.
5. If we have to change or cancel
Sometimes safety, weather, closures or supplier problems force a change. We will tell you as soon as we can and offer an alternative of a comparable standard, such as different dates or accommodation. If you decide not to accept it, or we cannot offer one, we will work with you on a refund of what we are able to recover from suppliers.
6. Travel insurance
Comprehensive travel insurance covering trip cancellation, medical evacuation and personal effects is required for all guests. It is the usual way to protect yourself against costs we cannot refund, such as illness, accident or a family emergency. Please arrange it as soon as you book.
7. Contact
