A shallow, flamingo-pink soda lake at the northern end of the Suguta Valley, fed by hot springs and rimmed pink by the birds gathered on its alkaline shallows — reachable in practice only by air.
Enquire About This FlightOverview
There is no real road in.
Lake Logipi sits where the Suguta Valley finally opens out, fed by hot springs and rimmed pink by the flamingos that gather on its alkaline shallows. The ground below is lava rock, ash and heat, which is exactly why so few people have stood on its shore.
From a helicopter it is a landscape that photographs like nowhere else in Kenya: white salt crust, black volcanic rock, and a lake the colour of the birds standing in it. It is flown, not driven, and is paired naturally with the Suguta Valley and the Barrier Volcanic Complex to its north.
