Overview

Community-Led
Conservation

Saruni Rhino sits inside Sera Conservancy, entirely owned and run by local communities rather than private investors.

Saruni Rhino is a small, intimate camp inside the Sera Community Conservancy in northern Kenya, notable as the first community-owned and managed black rhino sanctuary in East Africa. Black rhino, once locally extinct here through poaching, were reintroduced in partnership with local Samburu and Rendille communities, who now manage the sanctuary and its tourism revenue directly. The camp itself is deliberately small and understated, positioned to let the story of the sanctuary and its rangers take centre stage over lodge luxury.
