Safari Camp — The Lamai Wedge, Northern Serengeti, Tanzania
The Serengeti's Remote Northern Wedge
Built into a kopje on the western bank of the Mara River, in the remote Lamai Wedge — one of the very few camps with access to this secluded corner of the migration route, and often the first to see the herds arrive from Kenya.

Overview
A Private Corner of the Migration
Run by Asilia Africa, Lamai Camp sits within the Lamai Wedge — a narrow, little-visited strip of the Serengeti pinched between the Mara River and the Kenyan border, accessible to only a handful of camps.
The Lamai Wedge is cut off from the rest of the Serengeti by the Mara River, keeping vehicle traffic here lower than almost anywhere else on the migration route. Twelve tented suites are built directly into a kopje, connected by raised walkways, each with a private deck looking out over the river below and the Kenyan escarpment beyond. Between roughly July and October, the migration crosses in and out of this wedge repeatedly, often giving Lamai's guests the very first sightings of herds arriving from the Mara on the Kenyan side.

Location
The Wedge Between Two Countries
Lamai Camp sits within the Lamai Wedge, a strip of the Serengeti pinched between the Mara River and the Kenyan border — some of the last ground the migration crosses before reaching the Maasai Mara.
Between roughly July and October, the Wedge sees some of the migration's largest and most dramatic crossings, often before herds cross into Kenya.
Resident wildlife — lion, leopard and elephant — make the area rewarding well outside migration season too.
Access to the Lamai Wedge is limited to a small number of camps, keeping vehicle density genuinely low.
Guests contribute automatically to regional conservation projects through Asilia’s guest conservation charge.
Fly
The nearest airstrip is Kogatende, roughly 30 minutes from camp, followed by a river crossing to reach the Wedge.
Drive
Many guests arrive by private guided overland safari, driving north from the central Serengeti during migration season.
