Overview
Beneath Mount Kenya
Kicheche Laikipia is a small, eco-award-winning camp inside the 90,000-acre Ol Pejeta Conservancy — a working wildlife sanctuary and cattle ranch that carries Kenya's largest black rhino population.
Six tents sit at the foot of an indigenous forest, arranged around a large waterhole that draws elephant, buffalo and plains game throughout the dry season. At 6,000 feet, the camp looks out toward Mount Kenya, and the conservancy beyond it holds a density of wildlife matched by few places in Kenya — Grevy's zebra, Jackson's hartebeest and Beisa oryx alongside the more familiar cast of lion, leopard, cheetah and elephant. Ol Pejeta is also, uniquely, home to the last two northern white rhinos left on the planet, protected within the conservancy's guarded sanctuary.
A Gold Eco-Rated camp. Kicheche Laikipia is one of only a handful of camps in Kenya to hold a Gold rating from the Kenya Ecotourism authority, reflecting its light footprint inside a working conservation landscape.
