Five Minutes
From the Walls

A 1913 villa on the water, a five-minute walk from the medieval walls of the UNESCO Old City.

01 / 06
Overview

Villa Odak,
Since 1913

A hundred and thirty-nine rooms and nineteen suites between the original villa and a contemporary tower.

The Excelsior began as a villa in 1913 and now runs to 139 rooms and 19 suites split between that original building — Villa Odak — and a modern tower alongside it. Villa Odak keeps the classic character: high ceilings, plush furnishing and marble-topped tables. The position is the argument for staying here rather than inside the walls: five minutes on foot from the Old City, but on the water, with a stone promenade running down to a private beach that looks straight back at the walled town.

Elizabeth Taylor sunbathed here. In an earlier incarnation the hotel hosted Queen Elizabeth II and Elizabeth Taylor, who took the sun on the same private beachfront guests use today.
