A Place to
Stay Awhile

Ten suites in a Fever Tree forest, built for the giants of this landscape — Super Tusker elephants below, Mount Kilimanjaro above — in Kenya's first community-owned conservancy.

Overview

Inspired by
Giants

Angama's second lodge takes its design cues from the two giants of the Amboseli ecosystem: the Super Tusker elephants that roam Kimana Sanctuary, and Mount Kilimanjaro rising beyond it.

Ten detached suites — a mix of canvas, concrete and stone, textured in places with elephant dung, accented by woven rattan and grass in earthy, neutral colours — sit within a verdant Fever Tree forest inside the 5,700-acre Kimana Sanctuary. Kimana is Kenya's first community-owned conservancy, held by 844 Maasai landowning families, and sits at the narrowest point of a critical wildlife corridor linking Amboseli National Park to the Chyulu Hills and Tsavo West. Every suite is oriented so Kilimanjaro is visible from nearly every corner — the bed, the shower, even the outdoor deck.

One of three Angama addresses. Angama Amboseli joins Angama Mara on the Oloololo Escarpment and the intimate four-tent Angama Safari Camp deeper in the Mara Triangle — this page covers Angama Amboseli alone.
