Overview
A Nineteen Twenties House
A hundred and thirty-one rooms and suites in the Art Deco manner, a few streets from the cathedral.
Maison Rouge sits on rue des Francs-Bourgeois, immediately off the pedestrian centre at Place Kléber, and it has kept the 1920s Art Deco language it was built in rather than trading it for something newer. There are 131 rooms and suites; the ones worth asking for look directly at the sandstone spire of Strasbourg Cathedral. Downstairs there is a 150 square metre spa with a jacuzzi, sauna and hammam, which matters more than it sounds in a city that is genuinely cold from November onward and where the Christmas market runs through December.
Ask for a cathedral view. A limited number of rooms look straight at the cathedral spire. In December, with the market below, they are the ones people remember.
